Biography
Charles J. Kane
Charles J. Kane was born in Brussels in 1942, while the Nazis were on their murderous hunt for Jews and other “anti-social” elements of society. He was, in fact, a victim of the Holocaust, having lost his biological parents to Auschwitz and been separated from his two sisters. After the war, he was adopted by a Jewish family who raised him as their own. Kane spent his adolescence in Caracas and New York before arriving in Puerto Rico, where he went to university and began his career as a science teacher.

When life took unexpected and tragic turns, which constitute the essence of this book, he was compelled to search for his identity. This agonizing task was made easier in part because of the skills he’d acquired in his second career as a U.S. Customs and Immigration Inspector. He finished his career as a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer. Retirement in 2006 gave Kane the peace of mind he needed to finally tell his incredible tale, a story so shocking that it seems born of fiction. Kane lives in San Juan with his wife, Blanca.
